woahh earthbound is that you?

really has that snes video game music vibe thooo me likeys

RealBlargMaster responds:

Did you really just compare my music to Earthbound, one of the world's greatest RPGs of all time?
*Fanboy scream*

you probs just need to quantize your stuff, seems like you recorded this on midi. which daw are you using? there's probably a quantize option somewhere there. play with the velocity too while you're at it, you'll get them sweet dynamics ;)

but yeah this would maybe work on something like uhhh papa's pizzeria?? yea idk but it sure reminds me of that

MrPlant responds:

Thank you for the feedback, I'll mess with the quantization to see if I find anything I like.

absence of mind proves the presence of one

that being said this is lit

jdigitalartwork responds:

Thanks radicaldawg!

hmm i mean it's fine the way it is, what challenges did you take again?

maybe mess with the adsr (attack, decay, sustain, release) of the synths for a more versatile sound? yea that's all from me

goodluck with the challenge btw!

kadepow11 responds:

I am in Destroyer Encounter, and, yeah ill definitely do that, the original sounded horrible lol

Thank you! You too!

wtf this is so great like

i didn't expect this woah... damn beautiful

good job on it ig

modulation at the end felt a bit off but eh that's probs just me anyways

L-Mity responds:

Thanks mate! :D

+really like how this song isn't just carried by just one simple melody and that's it (although the end was a bit repetitive i'll let that slide)
+like what you did there at 1;25. pretty smooth transition even though you only did simple tweaks to the melody
+hmm sort of has those classic edm vibes (like you know that "i'm blue da ba dee da bo da" song or whatever)
-kick needs more hi-ends. like a little bit more but not too much. you can probs change the sample or stack a kick with a good hi-end and remove its lows.
-when you stack the kicks together like in ;37, make sure you do it so that only one kick will play at a time, so the releases won't stack up on each other and mess up the mix. this basically applies to any sound if you want to do that effect. (some exceptions being songs that need the sound to be messy like speedcore ig?)
-white noise needs to have its lows cutoff. feels very weird ngl especially when paired up with the stacked kicks during the buildup
-i feel like the frequencies are clashing in the drop? idk if you purposely added really distorted synths (think you did) there but i think the mixing does need working on (just eq the sounds in a way that they'll all blend with each other)

yea the pluses are what i liked about your song and the minuses are stuff i think you should touch up on. overall, it's not bad although i'm not a fan of songs like this in general but hey nice try anyways. keep up that grind!

DJAggtur11 responds:

Thanks

ooo now that you mention it it does sound like it came out of a racing game, with those somewhat dissonant sounding chords that play throught the song, and the fast-paced drums which reallyyy just compliment the track as a whole. the beginning does feel a bit off tho with that clicky-reeverby sound. (the spike at ;11 i mean) now i know you were probably aiming for repetition and simplicity in the making of this song, but maybe a B section melody on those chords wouldn't hurt to add in a song like this. nice vibes tho!

quantumdylan responds:

Hey thanks! Yeah, it's such a simple song mostly owing to me not being terribly sober at the time haha, still trying to figure out how to work with this new box too. Never been very good at changing patterns and stuff live.

Thanks so much ❤️
