how and why do you know all this

nice little game you have here

nice idea lol, even though not original, it's still cool

maybe if i can actually zoom out more that would be great

OMG THIS IS SO SHORT AND BORING

well this is pretty simple for a early access (good thing you tried with those three hours eh?) and i wonder, are you going to form a team or something or you just going to do this a one man band?

nothing much to review about this as i think you know whats missing and what not. short nitpicks i have would be to give the cat a different dialogue after you give it a treat, cause the event of giving the key does repeat itself after "feeding" it. you can also like edit that logo or the font used for the title screen so that the words dont feel so cramped to each other.

other than that nice try. wanna see more tho

honestly, you can choose not to make story-driven games and honestly that's fine. as long as you at least make something enjoyable to play or get into, you're good to go.

speaking of which, i do find the platformer mechanics introduced here to be yes, pretty mediocre to say the least. like they honestly feel like they're just there to exist, y'know? sure you do try to give them some synergy here and there, but that's just it. maybe settle on a gimmick/idea and design your whole game based on that and not just a bunch of ideas which come and go. take for example the revive mechanic from jonochrome's [REVIVE] and [RESPAWN] or that one mechanic from the game where you play as a battery. they both have one main gimmick/idea and expand upon it. oh yea and you probably need a level select section to go back into the last room in which i stopped by and maybe even replay certain parts.

now in the later levels, you sort of switch up the game's style from out of nowhere and just make the whole game "glitchy". stuff that worked before didn't really work as they're supposed to, which feels really out of place and i dont really know if that was intentional or not. (btw stopped at level 32, i don't know how to get past that with the slope and the weird physics) but i do feel a bit betrayed considering the game just switched lanes on me for no reason or explanation.

graphics wise, i know graphics aren't probably your main focus in the first place, but i believe that the platformer genre should at least have some sort of focus on the aesthetics themselves. add some background objects/particles/addition to the background or whatever, because i do feel that the game is empty. not too complex, you could go for really simple design, and it'll still work from there.

that being said, good luck being one of those cool indie developers heheh, hopefully my advice helped

p.s. really liked the button which "breaks the game" haha

Curruff responds:

The goal for this game was mainly to have a story, but disguise it like there isn't supposed to be anything like that. One of the main things I feared was that I didn't make that clear enough, and it sounds like I was right about that.

The platforming was intended to be that there would be a few game mechanics, and they would break as the game went on. I guess I didn't do a good enough job at explaining how that would work, and why. Adding in some more explanation would be a good idea.

As for graphics, while simplicity was the intended effect for this game, adding in some particle effects wouldn’t be a bad idea either. I’ll have to see how I could make that work. Thanks for the advice!

Also, I’m glad you like the Break the game button. I like that too.

oh yes one of those games where you just see things happen

props to you for that ending tho

yea and did i tell you the game keeps getting smaller with each completion?

pretty good

so do i just die or

have you ever thought like

making an actual game?

i mean you do have the ideas (regardless of this being no different than a shitpost (dont worry tho i accept all kinds)) and i don't think anyone would want to see just a powerpoint slideshow
with little to no interaction

my suggestions are - an actual point'n'click adventure or a visual novel or whatever

pretty random overall so yea

im giving you an extra 0.5 stars btw just because this game had medals

but anyways, the concept of this game is pretty great, although this is somewhat just simplified tetris connect 2 or more, its cool. besides the repetitive techno song that sounded like it came out of an old flash game here on newgrounds, its cool

a few bugs i had was when exiting, the orange goo or whatever you call it wasn't really on the foreground (that means the blocks still can be seen) and also you can't get out of the settings once you entered it. (idk why but the sound slider sticks to the position of your cursor) but besides that, _its cool_ (no really tho i enjoyed it)

Everratic responds:

My song that is used here is from 2011 so you're right :D

Artur-Felipe responds:

This was not supposed to happen. Which browser do you use? Thanks for the comment.

Galaxy-Animal responds:
